Major update on Randy Orton's WWE future after he gets attacked backstage - Reports
A recent report has shed light on what WWE could have in store for Randy Orton after the shocking events on SmackDown, where Kevin Owens laid out the former. As per rumors, The Viper and KO could be gearing up for a blockbuster showdown at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event special on December 14.
Owens' heel turn after Bad Blood 2024, where he attacked Cody Rhodes, stunned the wrestling universe. Last week on SmackDown, things turned even worse when he took out his former tag team partner Randy Orton, too, backstage. With Kevin Owens solidifying his turn to the dark side, fans are expecting several matches for him in the near future, most prominently against Cody and Orton.
Now, a report by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reveals that WWE plans to have the megastars go to war at Saturday Night's Main Event. He added that the company planned for the headlining match to be a shoot-style affair.
With the event slated for December 14, the promotion still has nearly two months to build the match and add more layers to an already compelling storyline.
WWE is also keen to book a rivalry between Randy Orton and LA Knight
While KO vs. The Viper seems like the direction for the immediate future, a few days back, WrestleVotes reported that WWE was also interested in exploring a feud between Orton and LA Knight. The US Champion has been on a roll ever since winning the title at SummerSlam 2024 with quite a few successful title defenses.
However, he's yet to be involved in a marquee feud that could elevate his title run. As such, it's safe to say if WWE went in the direction of having Randy Orton challenge The Megastar, their match could certainly headline any event.
LA Knight's latest title defense was on last week's SmackDown, where he bested Carmelo Hayes in under 10 minutes despite a valiant effort by the latter.
