Major WWE championship match slated for Bad Blood - Reports
WWE Bad Blood is less than two weeks away, with the premium live event scheduled to take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on October 5, 2024. A new report has revealed that a massive title match is in the works for the PLE, and the official announcement is expected to be made on television very soon.
The confirmed matches for Bad Blood so far are CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, and Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship.
For the past few weeks on Monday Night RAW, Sami Zayn has been demanding a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Title from Gunther. The Ring General, however, has consistently refused to grant his request.
Dave Meltzer, in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), noted that a highly anticipated match between Gunther and Sami Zayn for the world title might be on the cards for an upcoming show. The wrestling journalist suggested that the announcement for this clash could be imminent, possibly happening within the next week or two.
Top WWE star eyes the World Heavyweight Championship
Seth Rollins became the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion at the 2023 Night of Champions. Since then, the title has been held by stars such as Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, and currently Gunther.
In an interview with Nims Azoor of The Overnight Crowd, Bronson Reed expressed his desire to break into the main event scene by making a significant impact on the WWE roster. He stated that while he appreciates the opportunities offered by the Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships, his ultimate goal is to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship.
"Yeah. I want this to slingshot me into the main event scene. I've nothing against the Tag Team or the Intercontinental Championship, like I would love to be both of them. But I want to be a part of that World Heavyweight Championship scene, and I think the way to do it is what I'm doing right now: by getting as many eyes on me as possible. Whether that's throwing a fan into Braun Strowman, going through a wall, jumping onto a car, or whatever it takes to get me there, I'll do it," Reed said.
