Major WWE heel turns babyface after over two years - Reports

WWE SummerSlam 2024 was full of twists and turns, with multiple titles changing hands at the recently concluded premium live event. The show also witnessed a major betrayal as Finn Balor turned on Damian Priest during the World Heavyweight Championship match. Following the shocking turn of events, The Archer on Infamy has reportedly undergone a character change.

Priest turned heel for the first time on the main roster in February 2022 when he attacked Finn Balor after losing the United States Championship to the latter. He went on to join Edge to form The Judgment Day and was a prominent member of the faction for over two years.

The villainous group imploded at SummerSlam, with Balor costing Damian Priest the World Heavyweight Championship and Dominik Mysterio choosing Liv Morgan over Rhea Ripley. The aftermath of the events at The Biggest Party of the Summer has resulted in a huge character change for Priest, per a recent report.

According to PWInsider, The Archer of Infamy is now listed internally by WWE as a babyface.

WWE CCO Triple H talked about Damian Priest's title run

Damian Priest won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 Night Two after he cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. The Archer of Infamy held the title for nearly four months before losing it to Gunther at SummerSlam.

While Priest's run may not have lasted that long, the star received huge praise from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. At the post-SummerSlam press conference, The Game said The Punishment proved a lot of people wrong.

"I said this to him [Damian Priest] after the match - when he became world champion, a lot of people doubted it. A lot of people doubted him. And I think over this period of time, since WrestleMania, he has proved them all wrong. He walked in as a guy, like, ‘They put the world title on him.’ And he walked out as world champion. Like, really as world champion. That’s how I feel about it," Triple H said.

Damian Priest is expected to feud with Finn Balor in the coming weeks, with his rivalry with Gunther most likely coming to an end. The duo shares a storied history, as Priest targeted Balor a lot a couple of years ago.
