Major WWE return seemingly confirmed for Saturday Night's Main Event
A major return has seemingly been confirmed for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend. The special event is set to take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York.
Earlier today, Triple H presented Cody Rhodes with a mystery item ahead of his title defense against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event. Rhodes has been pushing for the Winged Eagle title to return, and it appears it could be making a comeback on Saturday Night's Main Event.
WrestleVotes took to social media to note that Rhodes coming to the ring with the classic title should be a "cinematic masterpiece" at Saturday Night's Main Event.
"Cody Rhodes walking out on NBC during Saturday Night’s Main Event with the classic “winged eagle” WWE Championship should be a cinematic masterpiece—one that hits home for fans who grew up on the OG SNME," wrote WrestleVotes.
The American Nightmare is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event. There are also three more title bouts scheduled for the show this weekend, as well as Drew McIntyre versus Sami Zayn in a singles match.
Cody Rhodes reveals he is still working on major WWE title change
Cody Rhodes recently disclosed that he was trying to bring the Winged Eagle title back to the promotion.
In a recent interview on Superstar Crossover, the champion shared that he was on a mission to bring the classic title back to the company. Rhodes noted that he was a man of his word and was still working on trying to make it happen.
"I am so glad you asked. Please know, anyone who ever heard me say the words 'Winged Eagle Title,' I actively am still on the hunt. I am still on the mission, and if anything, I have shown in the past, even if it’s for a single night or fleeting, I try to be a man of my word. So, I’m working on it," Cody Rhodes said.
