Major WWE star to face John Cena during retirement tour - Reports
A major WWE Superstar is rumored to clash with John Cena during his retirement tour next year. The Cenation Leader made a surprise appearance during Money in the Bank last month and announced he would be retiring from the ring in 2025. The star would reportedly face Gunther next year.
The Judgment Day's Damian Priest will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther tomorrow night at WWE SummerSlam. The Imperium leader earned the title shot by winning the King of the Ring tournament in May. According to WRKD Wrestling, Gunther is in line for another massive match down the line. WRKD Wrestling is reporting that The Ring General is currently set for a marquee match against John Cena at a premium live event during his retirement tour.
TNA star Joe Hendry has made it known that he also wants to have a match against John Cena. NXT and TNA have been working together as of late and Hendry has become popular amongst the WWE Universe.
Dutch Mantell claims John Cena is not retiring from WWE
Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell does not believe John Cena will remain on the sidelines following his retirement tour next year.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk podcast, Mantell suggested that Cena would not be able to stay away from the ring forever. He added that if WWE pitched the legend an idea down the line, he wouldn't it shoot it down due to his retirement tour.
"These guys could say, 'Oh, I'm gonna retire,' until the cows come home, but I guarantee you he won't retire," Mantell stated. "We'll see him after 2025, and why not? If they say, 'Hey, we've got a shot for you, blah blah blah, and you'll make this,' [Cena will not say] 'Oh, no, I'm retired.' 'But you can make this.' 'Oh, well, maybe I can come out one night, maybe, just for my fans.'" [6:59 – 7:24]
