Massive update on Oba Femi's WWE future - Reports
Oba Femi has not been seen on NXT TV in recent weeks. New details have come to light regarding his future.
Oba Femi burst onto the NXT scene in dominant fashion. He won the Breakout tournament and then won the NXT North American Championship. He remained champion for 273 days until he lost the title to Tony D'Angelo at NXT Halloween Havoc.
Since this loss, Femi has not been seen on NXT TV, which caused fans to be concerned about his absence. It was reported that he had not been seen backstage at NXT shows. There were rumors that he said his goodbyes after Halloween Havoc, but these reports were debunked.
According to new reports from Fightful Select, Oba Femi hasn't been present at WWE TV because he has been enjoying time off in Nigeria. They have also not heard anything regarding Femi dealing with an injury or a visa issue. Although a specific date for his return is unknown, he is expected to be back "sooner rather than later."
When asked about his contract status, a WWE source said that they would be "shocked" if the company had not extended his deal since he has impressed the higher-ups, including Shawn Michaels. Even Triple H is a "very big fan" of the former North American Champion but there are no indications that he has been called up to the main roster as of writing this article.
Femi has since just made his return at WWE NXT's Deadline Premium Live Event.
