Mysterious SmackDown vignette was for the debut of legendary wrestling duo - Reports
There was a mysterious vignette on SmackDown showing police lights, silhouettes of two people walking, Detroit City, and a text saying "Coming Soon." After all the anticipation, a new report has revealed what the vignette could be for.
Speculation was rampant over what that mysterious SmackDown vignette was and whose debut was being teased. The consensus seemed to be that it is for the legendary duo who WWE has reportedly signed - The Motor City Machine Guns. The two have been a team for 18 years now, making their name across TNA, ROH, NJPW, and the independent wrestling scene. They've long been regarded as one of the best tag teams not signed to WWE - until of course, they were reported to have signed with the sports wrestling juggernaut.
It looks like the rumors of the signing are not only true, but they appear to be SmackDown-bound. Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that the vignette on SmackDown was for The Motor City Machine Guns.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been around 22 and 24 years respectively - giving them a combined 46 years of experience in wrestling.
It looks like this is WWE's way of taking the tag team division to a whole new level. There are also rumors of the legendary Lucha Bros, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon Jr. (Penta El Zero in AEW) signing with the company. If the Motor City Machine Guns are heading to the blue brand, then it's safe to assume that the Lucha Bros could be heading to RAW.
It makes sense that both the Motor City Machine Guns and Lucha Bros would be main roster-bound due to their experience and tenure in the industry.
