Nick Khan's reported future plans disclosed as WWE is looking to bring in major name for RAW on Netflix debut (Exclusive)
WWE President Nick Khan is the man who steers the ship of the sports entertainment juggernaut in the post-McMahon era. He seemingly has a big future plan as the company is looking to bring in a major name for RAW's debut on Netflix.
Nick Khan made a name for himself in WWE even before becoming an executive during the pandemic. He helped facilitate broadcast deals, but the RAW on Netflix deal is the crown jewel of his work as it is the single most lucrative broadcast deal in professional wrestling history. Starting in January 2025, WWE is looking to bring in some big guns for the Netflix debut episode which is reportedly going to take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
On WrestleVotes Radio exclusively on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC stated that WWE is looking to bring in rap superstar Travis Scott for the RAW's debut on Netflix. According to the experts, this is Nick Khan's vision for the company, where he wants mainstream names to associate themselves with WWE. Associating a mainstream name like Travis Scott with the company is a huge win for them.
Travis Scott was previously seen at the Fanatics Fest in New York City with WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
Nick Khan was praised for a major WWE hiring
It's the behind-the-scenes work that the WWE President does that has gotten him a lot of praise. One of them is the hiring of Joe Tessitore to the commentary team of Monday Night RAW. Even Adnan Virk, whose commentary stint with WWE during the pandemic was short-lived, said that he was surprised it took so long for Tessitore to make it to the big stage.
On Rich Deitsch's Sports Media podcast, the ex-WWE commentator Adnan Virk praised Joe Tessitore for his passion, stating that he can reach Michael Cole's level someday. Virk also stated that Tessitore was a great hire by Nick Khan:
"He’s done great. That’s a very tough audience, tough to impress, so if you can come in, and say sixty percent like Tess, that’s a resounding victory. I’m sure that number is higher, but eventually, they’ll understand Tess and his cadence. Like I said, the fact that he’s passionate about it and knows it, and he’s a hell of an announcer, I think Michael Cole’s outstanding, but I’m sure Tess at some point can reach those levels as well. It’s obviously a great hire for Nick," Adnan Virk said. [H/T: Fightful]
Adnan Virk was unfortunately not a good fit for WWE and he seemed to realize that as well. Within one-and-a-half months of him joining the commentary team, he mutually parted ways with the company. However, he seems to have a great deal of respect for the WWE President.
