Panic backstage in WWE during recent match; doctors were ready to intervene - Reports
As per a new report, doctors were ready to enter the ring during a recent marquee WWE match that took the wrestling world by storm. Drew McIntyre and CM Punk had one of the most violent bouts in recent memory with both performers bleeding during various stages of their memorable Hell in a Cell clash.
There's no denying McIntyre and Punk had the feuds of the year which culminated with a show-stealing encounter at Bad Blood 2024. The gruesome and often tough-to-watch match did full justice to the deeply personal rivalry.
The sight of The Scottish Warrior soaked in blood will remain in fans' minds for a long time and now a few backstage details of the situation have emerged. In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that people in WWE were panicking after seeing the amount of blood in the match.
It was also noted that Triple H and the executives had doctors ready to intervene and stop the bleeding but they eventually decided against it due to the match's stipulation.
"Backstage and at ringside they were panicking because of how bad the wound was and that he was so bloody and it wouldn’t stop. They at first talked about having the doctor get in the cage and trying to stop the bleeding but the decision was made not to do it because it was Hell in a Cell."
Moreover, Drew McIntyre provided assurances to those backstage in WWE and conveyed that he would call for help if things were to go out of hand.
"McIntyre basically took control and said that if he felt woozy he would give them the word and they would go right to the finish," wrote Dave Meltzer.
Jim Cornette wants Drew McIntyre and CM Punk to take a hiatus from WWE
A couple of days back on his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the former WWE manager stated that Punk or McIntyre, if not both, must take some time off to sell the damage done to their bodies during the Hell in a Cell match. Cornette also believes the two performers could now go their separate ways and embark upon other feuds.
"I don't honestly know that you can do anything else with them, with each other right now. And it wouldn't hurt for one, or maybe both, to be off, selling the injuries for a while. (...) If one of them is off for a few weeks so that the other one could get involved in another thing with another person, and then that person comes back later on and gets involved with somebody else, it's not as obvious a split, right, 'cause they still hate each other," said Cornette.
While CM Punk has already announced taking time off on this week's WWE RAW, Drew McIntyre was absent from the show altogether, meaning he could also be away for a while.
