Possible reason why Bron Breakker didn't win WWE Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank - Reports
A new report has shed light on the possible reason behind WWE star Bron Breakker's unsuccessful Intercontinental Championship challenge. He faced Sami Zayn for the title at the 2024 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event in Toronto, Canada.
After losing the NXT Tag Team Championship to Nathan and Axiom earlier this year, the 26-year-old made the jump to the SmackDown main roster. However, during the 2024 Draft, Breakker's trajectory changed as he was moved to the Monday Night RAW brand.
The up-and-coming star shifted his focus to Sami Zayn, the reigning Intercontinental Champion on the red brand show. Despite vowing to dethrone his opponent at Money in the Bank, Bron Breakker fell short in his attempt to capture the IC Title from The Underdog from the Underground.
According to the latest reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), WWE didn't put the Intercontinental Championship on Breakker at MITB because the company wants his victory to be a showstopper on a more high-profile show.
On the July 15 edition of Monday Night RAW, the former NXT Champion brutally assaulted both Ilja Dragunov and Sami during their championship match. Fans have speculated that a Triple Threat match for the IC Title at the 2024 SummerSlam is a possibility, but WWE hasn't announced anything yet.
Bron Breakker comments on his unlikely alliance with 39-year-old WWE star
A few months ago, Breakker allied with Baron Corbin, together known as The Wolf Dogs on the NXT brand. The two captured the Tag Team Championship from Tony D'Angelo and Channing Lorenzo before losing it to the current titleholders.
Speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show, the up-and-coming star reflected on his relationship with Baron Corbin behind the scenes:
"[Baron] and I had hit it off from the get-go. As soon as he came down to NXT, we hit it off immediately. It was really cool for me to be able to get to work with him because obviously, it brought out a different side of me where I was being a little bit more entertaining, just being funny, just goofing off. And we both were just loving it and having a great time," Breakker said.
It remains to be seen if this year's SummerSlam will be the high-profile show wherein Bron Breakker finally dethrones Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Title in Cleveland.
