Potential major spoiler on CM Punk’s role in WWE NXT CW debut show - Reports

The WWE NXT brand is preparing to welcome CM Punk for another appearance. In just two weeks, officials will kick off the CW Network era of the NXT brand, and the renewed focus on WWE's third brand is picking up in a major way. Sources have just revealed potential spoilers on Punk and a few upcoming episodes.

The Second City Saint has already appeared for NXT in the 10 months he's been back with WWE, and he's worked hands-on with talents at the Performance Center. Punk is believed to have major NXT-related goals for his future with the company. The 27-year industry veteran is set to make an announcement on tonight's NXT related to his upcoming hometown appearance on October 1 for the CW premiere.

Punk is scheduled to appear as a special guest referee at the NXT CW premiere in Chicago, according to Ibou of WrestlePurists. The plan as of one week ago was for Punk to officiate the October 1 main event between Trick Williams and NXT Champion Ethan Page, and now Fightful Select has backed this report up with their own confirmation.

Punk's announcement on tonight's live NXT episode will make the guest referee role official. He is also set to be at ringside tonight for a segment that is scheduled for the middle of the show. While not confirmed, this could refer to the contract signing between Williams and Page. It wasn't clear if the former AEW World Champion is also booked for any backstage segments on tonight's NXT.

The Voice of the Voiceless was also at the WWE Performance Center earlier today. As he has done in the past, Punk was seen talking with NXT talents who approached him.
