Potential spoiler for major storyline on WWE SmackDown - Reports
WWE could have something interesting planned for a major storyline tonight on SmackDown. Tonight's show will air live from Florida and will feature an appearance from Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam earlier this month. Roman Reigns finally returned from his hiatus and cost Sikoa his chance at becoming champion at SummerSlam. The American Nightmare will be defending the title against Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin on August 31.
According to WrestleVotes on X, Rhodes will be helping Owens "ravage" A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) tonight on SmackDown.
The Prizefighter initially declined Cody Rhodes' offer for a title match at the upcoming Premium Live Event because he felt he didn't deserve it. However, he got upset after SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stated he was considering Roman Reigns for the title match.
WWE Hall of Famer reacts to Kevin Owens not wanting title shot at Bash in Berlin
Wrestling legend Teddy Long shared his thoughts on Kevin Owens not wanting to face Cody Rhodes at Bash in Berlin at the end of the month.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Teddy Long claimed it didn't make sense for the former Universal Champion to not be interested in the title match. Long noted that a title shot should never be passed up and added that he found Owens' comments to be belittling.
"That's what the whole story goes you know what I mean? He feels like you know there are other people deserving. Well, in this business, you are not worried about what the other people deserve. If you get the opportunity to go for the World Championship then you go for it. You can't worry about what somebody else needs to do so. That's why I don't understand, you know Kevin is saying stuff like that, it's kinda belittling him you know. And he is a great wrestler I mean, certainly does real good in the ring." [3:38 onwards]
