Real reason for multiple botches at WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland - Reports
The inaugural WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland PLE was another major success for the company. The show opened with a brutal "I Quit" match for the Undisputed WWE Championship and closed with a controversial finish to the World Heavyweight Championship bout. There were also several mishaps during the event, and new information is revealing why.
WWE Superstars are widely regarded as some of the most athletic performers in the entertainment world. However, in-ring accidents often happen, and unfortunately, botches occurred in multiple matches at Clash at the Castle: Scotland, including the Women's Tag Team Championship Triple Threat and the World Heavyweight Championship match.
Fans spotted referees speaking to wrestlers before their matches, mainly before the AJ Styles vs. Cody Rhodes opener, and it appeared they were being warned about loose or slippery ropes. The rope slips were a hot topic of discussion and were obviously seen by those backstage and those watching at home.
A new report from Fightful Select adds that WWE officials are not particularly concerned about the ropes and any potential slips moving forward despite the mishaps on Saturday. Furthermore, a source blamed Saturday's slips on "the ropes in Scotland" and just bad luck.
The worst botches in Glasgow on Saturday were related to rope slips. Jade Cargill slipped on a springboard attempt during the Triple Threat that saw her and Bianca Belair drop the Women's Tag Team Championship to The Unholy Union.
There was also significant concern over Damian Priest after he got hung up on the top rope, but he went on to retain the World Heavyweight Championship over Drew McIntyre, and backstage sources later provided an update.
WWE Superstar throws shade over recent botches
World Wrestling Entertainment's Clash at the Castle: Scotland PLE featured five matches on the card, and all five were title matches. However, the only title change saw Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre capture the Women's Tag Team Championship from Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill in a Triple Threat that also included Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.
The tag team Triple Threat had multiple unfortunate botches, including one mishap where Big Money Jade slipped on the top rope while performing a springboard. Baszler took to X after the show and praised Stark by pointing out how she nailed her springboards.
"'Ropes issue' but @ZoeyStarkWWE nails 3 perfect springboards. MVP status," Shayna Baszler wrote.
Cargill later responded to Baszler with an insult. However, the former AEW TBS Champion quickly deleted her post.
