Ridge Holland visits Big E in hospital after scary botch on SmackDown -- Reports
Former WWE Champion Big E sustained an unfortunate injury during his match on SmackDown this week.
Big E and Kofi Kingston were scheduled to lock horns with Sheamus and Ridge Holland in a tag team match on the show. All was going well until Holland attempted to deliver a Belly to Belly Suplex that caused Big E to land awkwardly at ringside.
Medical professionals immediately attended to the New Day member and carried him out of the arena on a stretcher. Shortly after, E confirmed that he had suffered a broken neck.
Sean Ross Sapp recently tweeted out an update stating hat Ridge Holland and other SmackDown superstars visited The Powerhouse of Positivity in the hospital after the show.
The former WWE Champion also provided an update via a video shared on Twitter earlier today. He expressed his gratitude for the well wishes from fans and confirmed that he could move all his fingers. However, he stated that the doctors had informed him about the broken neck.
"I can't thank all of you beautiful people enough for all of your concerns and messages, it's very heartwarming,'' said E. ''I can move all my digits, you see that? That's nice, that's always a good thing. Strength feels fine, but unfortunately, right now, they tell me my neck is broken, so there's that. But once again, thank you everybody, I'll be alright. I'll be good, don't worry, go to sleep. Don't worry about me, but for real, thank you. And I appreciate all of you."
WWE Superstars send regards to Big E
It is no secret that the New Day member is one of the most beloved superstars backstage and, to an extent, in the entire wrestling fraternity. Several WWE Superstars, including top heels, broke kayfabe to address the former WWE Champion's injury and send him their well wishes.
Becky Lynch shared a heartwarming message for E, and Kevin Owens noted his name in a direct tweet. Xavier Woods relayed the information that his teammate is in good spirits after visiting the latter in the hospital.
As of this writing, there is no concrete update on the time frame of his potential return. We at Sportskeeda Wrestling join a million others in wishing E a speedy recovery.
