Rumor killer for CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre II at WWE Bash in BerlinĀ
WWE hit the bullseye straight off the bat on the first RAW after a successful SummerSlam with regard to its next major show, Bash in Berlin, scheduled for August 31. World Heavyweight Champion Gunther will defend his belt against Randy Orton in a sequel from their King of the Ring Tournament Finals in May.
This is a match fans are very excited for and they are just as hyped for CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre II. CM Punk used Drew McIntyre's belt to attack the latter this week. From the way Punk and McIntyre's brawl went on RAW, many are convinced the company might book the two in some kind of a Strap match.
According to a recent report by PWInsider Elite, WWE plans to continue their intense rivalry through Bash in Berlin in a stipulation match. But the stipulation is unknown as of this writing.
Other matches announced for Bash in Berlin include an Undisputed WWE Champion match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens and a Mixed Tag Team contest pitting Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley against Dominik Mysterio and Women's World Champion Liv Morgan.
Gunther takes credit for WWE Bash in Berlin and emphasizes its significance
Bash in Berlin is the event Gunther has likely been waiting for all year long. The Ring General won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam from Damian Priest and is walking into his home continent to as champion.
In a recent interview with CBS Sports, Gunther reflected on the hard work he and Ludwig Kaiser put in to raise the level of professional wrestling in Germany over the years. While he admitted that he is not the only reason, The Ring General added that him being part of World Wrestling Entertainment had something to do with the company booking its first premium live event in Germany:
"I'm obviously not the only reason this event is happening, but I want to claim that my being in WWE right now is a factor for why they wanted to do a PLE there. I think it's a very nice accomplishment."
Randy Orton, on the other hand, clarified his move to RAW this week after spending the entire year on SmackDown with the revelation of a stipulation in their title match. If Orton wins, he switches to the red brand while Gunther will move to SmackDown.
