SPOILER: WWE set to announce major new championship tonight; report emerges before SmackDown

WWE is about to make a major announcement about a new championship on SmackDown. The report has emerged minutes before the show.

Over the past few years, WWE's women's division has seen considerable improvement, with the company pushing female stars to the top of the card. Names like Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Bayley, and Nia Jax have all done their part in making the division seem deeper than ever on the main roster. On NXT, there was already a Women's midcard title announced in the form of the North American title.

Now, the main roster is set to get something similar. As per reports from Fightful Select, a major new women's midcard title is set to be announced by WWE. The report emerged moments before SmackDown, and it seems that the announcement is scheduled to come tonight.

What form this midcard title will take remains to be seen, but Triple H is likely to be heavily involved in the announcement, given what has happened in the past and with him being the CCO.

With that being the case, fans will have to wait and see what the company calls it and if it's the much-touted Women's Intercontinental title that has been demanded.
