Surprising match set to headline WWE Money in the Bank 2024 - Report
In the last decade, it has been brought to light that WWE Money in the Bank is up there with the "Big Four" Premium Live Events of World Wrestling Entertainment. It is that time of year when one superstar from the men's and women's divisions will receive an opportunity to rise to the occasion. It ultimately depends on whether they manage to.
Several editions of the event over the years have seen the titular contest headline. But this time around, World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest vs. Seth Rollins has been revealed as the main event by Dave Melter.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that Priest's title defense will close the show. It makes sense, considering how much WWE invested to revive the King of the Ring platform in May. Gunther, who won the tournament, will face the one who walks out of Money in the Bank with the World Heavyweight Title.
This also leaves the door open for Triple H and the creative team to pull a trick out of Vince McMahon's playbook. Many times under the former WWE Chairman's regime, the winner of the contract wound up cashing in on the same night.
Damian Priest will be forced to leave The Judgment Day should he lose at WWE Money in the Bank
After successfully cashing in on Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL, Damian Priest ran Monday Night RAW as the flagship show's champion. However, in the process, it appears he has grown out of The Judgment Day.
Priest even went to the extent of saying that his comrades need him more than he needs them, even though one of his two televised title defenses thus far saw interference from his faction.
Watch Priest, Rollins, and Gunther confront each other on WWE RAW below:
During a recent interview with The Indian Express, Damian Priest commented on the upcoming title contest's stipulation. Seth Rollins succeeded in pushing the Judgment Day star to agree to a bet in which if the latter loses, he has to leave his faction for good.
"So, I'm confident and that's why I was able to, you know, make that gentlemen's agreement, where, you know, if I lose, fine, I leave The Judgment Day. But I don't think I'm gonna lose or else I, you know, I wouldn't have made that bet."
With reports of CM Punk's in-ring return facing some delay, chances of Drew McIntyre retrieving the briefcase for the first time in his career and cashing on either man in the main event will give the Scotsman a full-circle moment.
