Top WWE stars cast in upcoming wrestling film - Reports

Two top WWE Superstars have been cast in a wrestling-related movie set to begin filming this summer.

Charlotte Flair lost the SmackDown Women's Championship to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. The match received rave reviews from fans and critics, with many arguing that it should have been the main event of Night 1. The Queen hasn't appeared in the company since the loss and has taken on another project outside of WWE.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Charlotte Flair and Liv Morgan have been cast in an upcoming wrestling-related feature film. Production for the movie will take place this June in Louisville, Kentucky. The motion picture is based on the book Queen of the Ring by Jeff Leen and will be directed by Ash Avildsen.

Charlotte Flair is set to portray the legendary June Byers, while Liv Morgan is slated to play former Lightweight Champion Clara Mortensen. Josh Lucas has been cast as former wrestling promoter Billy Wolfe, and Marie Avgeropoulos as Babe Gordon. The report noted that veteran commentator Jim Ross recently stated on his podcast that he would also work behind the scenes on the project.

Charlotte Flair discloses her goals outside of WWE

Charlotte Flair recently shared what she would like to accomplish in her career outside of wrestling.

The 37-year-old has already had a legendary career inside the squared circle but wants to make her mark in Hollywood. Despite currently being on hiatus from the company, Charlotte was selected by SmackDown in the 2023 WWE Draft.

Speaking to Sam Dunn of Boardroom, she admitted that she wants to get to the level of popularity like The Rock, John Cena, and Batista.

"I think now, it’s just getting to that next level. Like, I know that my name is popular within sports entertainment, but I wanna get to that male level of John Cena, The Rock, Batista still. I want to cross over like my dad has so gracefully, and I’ll continue to do that until I get to that point. I hate that I started so late in the game, but I’m here. I think that’s just a matter of time," said Charlotte Flair. [H/T: Boardroom]

Liv Morgan recently suffered an injury that caused her and Raquel Rodriguez to relinquish the Women's Tag Team Championships. It will be interesting to see when Liv and Charlotte return to the WWE down the line.
