Unfortunate details emerge on Drew McIntyre's WWE absence - Reports

Drew McIntyre has been away from WWE TV since Bad Blood 2024. A new report has shed light on the reason behind his hiatus.

At the 2024 Bad Blood PLE in Atlanta, The Scottish Psychopath locked horns with CM Punk in a Hell in a Cell Match. It was The Second City Saint who became The Second City Devil to defeat the former World Heavyweight Champion inside the unforgiven steel structure.

The brutal encounter saw both Punk and McIntyre get busted open. However, it was reported that only The Straight Edge Superstar was supposed to bleed. The Scottish Warrior was not originally scheduled to shed blood. He suffered a legitimate gash during the match.

A new report from Sportskeeda Wrestling's Dr. Chris Featherstone has revealed that Drew McIntyre was currently absent from WWE TV due to a death in the family, in addition to being injured after the Bad Blood match. Featherstone confirmed this information after speaking with sources within the company.

"Reason for Drew McIntyre's Recent WWE Hiatus: I've been told that in addition to being 'pretty banged up' from his match against CM Punk at #BadBlood, Drew McIntyre has been on a hiatus due to dealing with a death in the family. Prayers go out to him," Dr. Chris Featherstone wrote this on X.

Former WWE star offers a possible explanation for Drew McIntyre getting busted open at Bad Blood

For those unaware, The Scottish Psychopath required 16 staples to close the cut he sustained after being hit with a metal toolbox by CM Punk inside The Devil's Playground. Meanwhile, former WWE star Stevie Richards shared his two cents on how the former World Heavyweight Champion suffered a gash at the PLE in Atlanta.

On his The Stevie Richards Show, the veteran alleged that Drew McIntyre's cut was caused by a sharp object at the bottom of the toolbox, not by a strike from The Voice of The Voiceless.

"I'm telling you flat right there [when the toolbox hit McIntyre's head], that's the part that gashes him. It's got to be dude. He [Punk] didn't hit him hard enough to split them. It feels more like this now that I'm looking at it for like the 20th time; that's how it happened. Everybody can leave a comment [on my YouTube video], and you go back and watch it frame by frame. But I believe something was on the bottom of the toolbox that cut him open," Richards said.
