Unfortunate update on 7-time WWE champion following recent absence - Reports

WWE is currently filled with talented and notable names across all three brands, making it difficult for some to appear on the weekly product. According to a new report, there's an update on Shinsuke Nakamura's status behind the scenes with the Stamford-based company.

In 2016, Shinsuke Nakamura signed with WWE and joined the Stamford-based company under the old regime. Luckily, The King of Strong Style spent a decent amount of time on NXT under Triple H's creative leadership before moving to WWE's main roster.

The 44-year-old star has captured the NXT, Intercontinental, and United States Championships on two occasions each with one reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champion. However, Nakamura never reached his true potential under the old regime compared to his run on the developmental brand.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR), the unfortunate reason behind the star's absence is the lack of creative direction for The King of Strong Style. The report further states he'll be back on TV when the creative comes up with a plan for the seven-time champion.

Earlier this year, he had a match with Sheamus and hasn't been seen on TV since April 2024.

What did Shinsuke Nakamura do in WWE under Triple H's regime?

Last year, Shinsuke Nakamura moved to Monday Night RAW during the annual WWE Draft under Triple H's regime. The King of Strong Style eventually turned heel and feuded with Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship for months.

However, he failed to capture the title from The Visionary. Later, he targeted Cody Rhodes. The two spent months feuding on TV and at live events before The American Nightmare started his feud with The Rock, Roman Reigns, and The Bloodline.

The Japanese veteran also returned to his home country and participated in The Great Muta's retirement tour in 2023. After a few one-on-one losses on Monday Night RAW, the 44-year-old star hasn't appeared on weekly television but has been active in live events. It'll be interesting to see when Nakamura returns to TV.
