Unfortunate update on Charlotte Flair’s WWE future - Reports

The WWE Universe continues to wait patiently for the return of Charlotte Flair. The second-generation superstar has been out of action since last December due to serious injuries. Amid rumors on Flair's status, sources have provided a further update on her potential return.

The Queen has been on the shelf since the December 8 SmackDown loss to Asuka. Flair suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus that night, and underwent surgery a few weeks later. She immediately began updating fans on her recovery, and while no time frame was announced, the belief was that the 38-year-old would be out for around nine months. This could put her back as soon as next month.

Recent rumors claimed the WWE creative team was working on plans for Flair's return, specifically with Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. A recent report also had her returning in November. However, as per Fightful Select, the former Women's Champion is not cleared to make her comeback and there is no word on if return plans are really in the works.

According to the report, Charlotte was not medically cleared by WWE doctors as of a few weeks back. It was noted that as of the end of August, officials did not expect Flair to return "soon," but no concrete time frame was provided.

As 2024 began, the word within World Wrestling Entertainment was that many did not expect Flair to wrestle this year, but it was noted that if anyone was capable of beating doctors' timeframe, it would be Ric Flair's daughter. Flair's recovery was ahead of schedule in February, but it was still too early to set a date for her return.

Regarding potential creative plans for the former NXT Women's Champion, a backstage source noted that it's unlikely that the writing team will put a plan in place until she's medically cleared by doctors. Flair was on SmackDown at the time of her injury, but she is not currently assigned to a roster due to her inactive status.

Charlotte Flair responds to WWE troll

WWE Superstars often go viral for their comebacks to various trolls and critics on social media. Charlotte Flair did just that earlier this month on X/Twitter.

Flair shared two new photos and referenced her pending return. A user responded and said more people are wondering when Becky Lynch will be back. The Queen fired right back.

"Not as many as the people wondering why you even commented," Charlotte Flair responded.

Flair will likely stay on SmackDown once she returns as her husband, Andrade, is also on the blue brand. The happy couple tied the knot in 2022.
