Unfortunate update on Shotzi’s WWE status ahead of SmackDown - Reports

WWE Superstar Shotzi has been absent from television due to injury. A recent report provided a possible unfortunate update regarding the status of her in-ring return.

The 32-year-old tore her ACL while competing against the then NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria in a title match on the February 13, 2024, edition of the developmental brand. In an unfortunate turn of events, the challenger injured her leg, leaving the referee with no choice but to call off the contest.

While Shotzi is on her road to recovery, wrestling journalist, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, in a recent Q&A, addressed a question regarding the estimated timeline for the injured superstar's return to action. SRS pointed out that a torn ACL usually puts a performer on the shelf for around a year. Considering the former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion tore her eight months ago, the fans might have to wait a little longer to see her return to action.

Former WWE Superstar claims the wrestling promotion has unique plans for Shotzi's return

Former WWE Champion Mideon recently claimed he was working with Shotzi as the Stamford-based company has a unique plan for the latter's return from injury.

While speaking on The Undertaker's Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway podcast, the former WWE European Champion claimed he was working with the SmackDown Superstar on a new gimmick inspired by a roller derby character from the 2000 movie American Psycho.

Mideon further shared more details regarding the character:

"I was asked by a couple of people to ‘help them out’ on their returns, ideas for stories. So I really kind of got this 'American Psycho' thing working for Shotzi, who I love. I see her as a roller derby…did she not fit the roller derby thing? Although I’ve kind of went in an 'American Psycho' thing, where she’s kind of been sitting at home, and see the video of her, and there’s two TVs, there’s a TV in front of her, and she’s watching the current women’s stable wrestle, and there’s a TV next to her with the ending of ‘Texas Chainsaw’, where all you hear is chainsaws, so she goes kind of insane a little bit."

Shotzi was reportedly expected to compete with former SmackDown Women's Championship Naomi in a qualifying match for the Women's Elimination Chamber Match. Unfortunately, she got injured and was replaced by Alba Fyre, who suffered a loss at the hands of The Glow.
