Unfortunate update on WWE's reported plans for Roman Reigns at Survivor Series 2023
It seemed like WWE teased a big match for Roman Reigns at Survivor Series 2023 last night. This week's episode of RAW saw Rhea Ripley offer to help Seth Rollins become like The Tribal Chief. The Visionary responded by vowing that he would never be like Reigns.
While that may have been seen as a hint towards a champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series 2023, reports indicate that isn't the plan. According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Reigns vs. Rollins is not the plan for next month's 'Big Four' premium live event:
"I can tell you for sure that's not on this year's Survivor Series," Dave Meltzer said regarding a potential match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
It remains to be seen when Reigns and Rollins finally have their highly anticipated rematch. We may have to wait until mid-2024 at least, with the WWE Draft potentially putting the two former Shield brothers on the same brand once again.
Who will Roman Reigns face at WWE Survivor Series 2023?
It looks like Reigns may defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Survivor Series 2023. However, there is a chance he will be involved in the planned WarGames Match alongside The Bloodline and The Judgment Day.
If The Tribal Chief does defend his title, expect it to be against a big star like Randy Orton. The Viper is reportedly set to return ahead of the Chicago premium live event, following around 18 months out.
He could challenge Roman Reigns, who helped put the WWE legend on the shelf in May 2022. The two were supposed to face each other at last year's SummerSlam before the severity of Orton's back injury forced a change of plans. As long as Mr. RKO returns as a babyface, this is the way to go.
