Update on Becky Lynch's rumored retirement ahead of WWE RAW - Reports
There has been an update regarding Becky Lynch's status with WWE. The veteran shared a cryptic post over the weekend seemingly hinting that she was stepping away from the ring.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE has not been informed of Lynch's retirement in an official capacity. The report also added that sources in the promotion do not believe Lynch would choose to retire via Instagram. However, it was disclosed that she was not under contract with the promotion and could retire without informing the company if she wanted to do so.
The company reportedly is being respectful of her space during her time away and it was noted that she would always be welcomed back into WWE.
Becky Lynch captured the vacant Women's World Championship earlier this year after Rhea Ripley was forced to relinquish it due to injury. She has not wrestled since her loss to Liv Morgan in a Steel Cage match on the May 27 episode of RAW.
Former WWE writer claims Becky Lynch should be upset about RAW star's booking
Vince Russo recently claimed Becky Lynch should be frustrated at how the promotion is booking Lyra Valkyria on RAW.
Lyra Valkyria captured the NXT Women's Championship from Lynch last year at Halloween Havoc. She was called up to RAW earlier this year and made it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament before being defeated by Nia Jax. The 27-year-old was defeated by Sonya Deville in a singles match on the July 22 edition of red brand.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, Russo suggested The Man should be upset at how Valkyria is being used on the main roster. He noted that the former NXT star not being pushed negatively impacts Lynch's brand.
"If I am Becky Lynch, I'm saying why did you have me endorse her if you're gonna do absolutely nothing with her? That brings down my brand, that brings down my brand." [From 25:30 to 25:42]
Lynch has accomplished a lot during her tenure as a WWE Superstar. Only time will tell what the future holds for the former champion in the world of professional wrestling.
