Update on Damian Priest’s injury scare at WWE Clash at the Castle - Reports
Damian Priest engaged in a war against his opponent Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash at the Castle and came out on top, retaining his World Heavyweight Championship. However, during the intense battle, The Archer of Infamy would go for a high-risk springboard from the middle of the ropes and got his ankle caught between the ropes, which almost ended in catastrophe.
The botch left everyone scared for Priest's condition but The Judgment Day member would soldier on and finish the match while often seen visibly limping through the bout. During the post-show conference, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion stated that he had not yet gone to the doctor to get an examination but thought he would be alright.
More details regarding the injury scare have been revealed now as Dave Meltzer provided an update on Damian Priest's condition on the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. He stated that the injury wasn't as bad as they initially feared and that it was a miracle that it didn't turn out severe.
“I actually heard from them and the preliminary news wasn’t bad, they’re actually saying it’s like a miracle. It wasn’t as bad as they feared, but nothing is conclusive.” [H/T - Ringsidenews]
Triple H spoke on Damian Priest's injury scare at WWE Clash at the Castle
Triple H publicly commented on Damian Priest's major injury scare during his match against Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash at the Castle. The match went on as planned as the two superstars contested for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event for the lively crowd of Glasgow, Scotland.
The match will however be remembered for the bitter outcome that came up for McIntyre due to CM Punk's interference. The Archer of Infamy would ultimately capitalize and put away The Scottish Psychopath and retain his WWE World Heavyweight Title. However, Priest didn't leave the match unscathed and almost suffered an awful injury due to a mishap with a springboard dive over the ropes, with his right ankle caught between the ropes.
WWE's Head of Creative, Triple H spoke about the injury scare during the post-show conference, stating that seeing it happen made his heart jump out of his chest.
"When I saw that happen to Damian (Priest), my heart jumped out of my chest. I didn't see any way that he wasn't injured and when I got word that he says he is fine, which, adrenaline is a hell of a drug, you know you seem fine in the moment, I'm really hoping when I leave here, I am going to get good news. Because, while he is walking around okay now, I'm sure adrenaline is carrying him through that. There is such a fine line between what we do being safe and what we do not being safe," he added.
