Update on Drew McIntyre's status for WWE RAW - Reports

Drew McIntyre has been selected by RAW in the WWE Draft but hasn't appeared since his loss at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles.

Gunther defended the Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre on The Grandest Stage of Them All and was able to retain the title. The Ring General has also been selected by the red brand in this year's draft and will be bringing the Intercontinental Championship to RAW.

The opportunity for McIntyre and Gunther to renew their rivalry is there, but fans may have to wait a little while longer.

According to a report from PWInsider, Drew McIntyre will not be at tonight's RAW. It was rumored earlier today that the Scottish Warrior would be making his return tonight, but that does not appear to be the case. McIntyre is in the final year of his contract with the promotion and has been rumored to be unhappy about the development of his character.

Drew McIntyre said that he has his eyes on Gunther & the Intercontinental title on Raw.

WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long advises Drew McIntyre to go to AEW

WWE veteran Teddy Long recently suggested that Drew McIntyre go to AEW for a couple of years.

McIntyre is a two-time former WWE Champion, but both title reigns occurred during the pandemic, and he never was able to have that moment with fans. He battled Roman Reigns last year at Clash at the Castle for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but came up short after Solo Sikoa interfered.

The 37-year-old is in the prime of his career, and a change of scenery might be the best option for him. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Teddy suggested Drew go to AEW for a fresh start for a couple of years:

"If AEW wants to take him, I think he should go, you know, that’s a fresh start there. So maybe he’s got a two- or three-year run right there. I don’t know, that decision will be left to him but I mean what he can do is maybe talk and find out if there are any plans for him. If there’s some plans for him down the line then hang around and wait until it’s time. But if they don’t have nothing for you, there are no plans then the writing’s on the wall,” Teddy Long said. Drew has made a name for himself outside of WWE in the past and may choose to do so again if he cannot come to a new deal with the company.
