Update on WWE introducing new titles for the women's division - Reports
WWE's new regime has provided new and exciting opportunities to the women's division across all brands. According to a new report, there's an update on the potential introduction of new women's secondary titles on the main roster.
Earlier this month, it was reported that WWE had plans to introduce two new titles for the women's division. However, no specific date was revealed and Fightful eventually cleared the air on those rumors post Money in the Bank in Toronto.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), he was told that new belts are under discussion in the women's division. However, it's not a done deal as the management is still deciding on it and it could happen in the future.
Earlier this year, new titles were introduced including a NXT Women's North American Championship for the developmental brand. It'll be interesting to see if the management decides to add new titles to the women's division on the main roster.
WWE changed two major titles in women's division
Last year, Triple H's new regime made crucial changes to the weekly product. The management introduces two new world titles for each brand. The World Heavyweight Championship became the top prize of Monday Night RAW and the Undisputed WWE Championship was given to The Bloodline's Roman Reigns on SmackDown.
However, these weren't the only changes made to the weekly product. The management also unified two sets of Women's Tag Team Championships on the main roster when Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the unification match against The Unholy Union on Friday Night SmackDown.
In June 2023, the management continued the trend of introducing new belts as the women's division received the Women's World Championship and the WWE Women's Championship for RAW and SmackDown, respectively.
Earlier this year, Triple H did the honor of introducing new titles in the men's division. The Awesome Truth and A-Town Down Under received the World Tag Team Titles and WWE Tag Team Titles, respectively, to replace the brand-specific belts post their wins in WrestleMania in Philadelphia.
Elsewhere, the white and gold brand also announced the introduction of a secondary title in the women's division. Kelani Jordan ended up becoming the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion in Las Vegas.
