WWE to allow major thing after Bad Blood; shocking claims surrounding Drew McIntyre's legitimate injury - Reports
WWE spared no expense in delivering an arguably exceptional premium live event in Atlanta on October 5, 2024. One of the most compelling matches on the card at Bad Blood was the brutal Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. A new report has provided details on a significant change that will be allowed by the Stamford-based promotion, which also involved The Scottish Warrior being busted open.
Inside the unforgiven steel structure, The Second City Devil and The Scottish Psychopath engaged in a blood bath. Punk suffered a gruesome injury, bleeding heavily, while McIntyre was also legitimately cut open and required 16 staples after being struck in the head with a metal toolbox by his opponent.
Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE is considering using blading in "key matches and angles," following Vince McMahon's exit. While the company intends to use blading sparingly, Drew McIntyre was not initially scheduled to bleed.
Blading is a pro wrestling technique where a wrestler would intentionally cut themself to add a little color during a match to heighten the drama.
Wrestling veteran says CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre wouldn't be that good if WWE made one mistake
CM Punk took home the win at Bad Blood by defeating the former World Heavyweight Champion inside Hell in a Cell. The match was a masterpiece of storytelling, with both wrestlers showcasing incredible athleticism and enduring immense physical punishment.
On an episode of his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette mentioned that the match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk would not be as impactful if WWE had more matches of similar quality happening frequently, a mistake that other promotions make. The veteran argued that the rarity and uniqueness of such a high-profile match would contribute significantly to its overall success.
"Can you imagine how this would get over if you didn't have a bunch of underneath guys, midcard guys, and outright children doing this stuff in every promotion five times a week?" said Cornette.

The Scottish Psychopath didn't appear on Monday Night RAW this week. The Voice of the Voiceless explained to WWE fans that he is still recovering from the affairs of The Devil's Playground and will be out of action for a while. Only time will tell when Punk and McIntyre will make their return.
