WWE announces huge end of an era after 11 years; everything changing - Reports
WWE just announced the end of an era. Things will be changing completely heading into the new year as 2024 ends.
According to reports from PWInsider, the Netflix deal comes into effect in January 2025. Several subscribers in different countries received a note from the WWE Network stating that it would no longer be available. Instead, Netflix will take over as the home of the company worldwide.
The report stated that the subscribers were receiving the following message:
"On January 1, 2025, WWE Network will no longer be available in your area. After January 1, Netflix will be the new exclusive home of WWE. Netflix will bring WWE's electrifying content all to one place, including weekly shows, Monday Night RAW, SmackDown and NXT, PLUS Premium Live Events (PLEs) such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam."
The message went on to state that they would also be broadcasting historic PLEs and "select programming" as well. They also advertised the premiere episode of RAW on Netflix, which is set to feature John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, and many others.
With this being the case, this is the end of an era for the company, as the Network, which had been introduced back in 2014, was now ending at the end of 2024, heading into 2025.
The Network will continue in areas where the company has a separate TV deal. However, when the TV deal comes to an end, Netflix will take over the rights to broadcast programming. At the end of this, the report stated that the company will "sunset" the Network.
As such, this signals the end of an era in the company's history as the era of the Network is now over. Triple H will be leading the company into the new era as the creative head.
