WWE Hall of Famer pitched for huge return after 19 months - Reports

WWE NXT will continue its CW Network era in a major way next week. For the first time ever, the show will take place at 2300 Arena (formerly ECW Arena). As expected, the episode will feature several ECW Originals, including Bubba Ray Dudley and Rob Van Dam.

Bubba Ray Dudley is set to team up with Trick Williams to take on Ethan Page and Ridge Holland, while Dawn Marie will serve as Special Guest referee for Lola Vice vs. Jaida Parker's Hardcore Match. Rob Van Dam and Francine are also booked, with Nunzio rumored to appear. A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that Hall of Famer Lita was discussed for the NXT 2300 show.

As per the report, WWE began reaching out to ECW stars earlier this month for next week's NXT show. Lita was one of the names discussed as she spent six months with Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1999, known as Miss Congeniality and Angelica.

Lita was actually at 2300 Arena earlier this month for unrelated reasons, and throughout a week-long period, WWE officials discussed a potential match for the 49-year-old with various pitches.

One pitch reportedly had the 2014 Hall of Famer working a tag team match. WWE has since announced a ten-woman match for NXT 2300, featuring Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx, and Jacy Jayne vs. Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Zaria, Kelani Jordan, and TNA's Jordynne Grace.

The Extreme Diva seemingly will not be wrestling next week, but the door remains open. Sources report that the word coming out of Lita's last storyline in April 2023 was that she was not expected to have a heavy in-ring future.

While Lita's last appearance for the company came on the November 14, 2023, edition of NXT in November 2023, it was through a video clip where she announced the Iron Survivor Challenge qualifiers.

WrestleMania 39 in April 2023 saw Lita, Becky Lynch, and Trish Stratus defeat Damage CTRL. She hasn't wrestled since and was written out the following RAW while still Women's Tag Team Champions with Lynch.

There was a rumor that Trish and Lita would appear in the Hall of Fame segment at WrestleMania 40, but that didn't happen.

The NXT 2300 special episode will air next Wednesday from 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show was moved to Wednesday to avoid United States election coverage. WWE's black-and-silver brand is all set to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite next week.
