WWE reportedly intends to make major change to PLE
WWE Clash at the Castle is scheduled to emanate from OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, this Saturday. The show has created a notable buzz thanks to several ongoing storylines that have struck a chord with the fanbase.
One thing that appears to be changing in the premium live event system following Clash at the Castle is the post-show press conference, according to WrestleVotes. It had become a norm in this new era. Instead, there will only be a 'post-show.'
Triple H allegedly took issue with a question raised at the Backlash: France press conference. He threw shade at reputed wrestling media such as Fightful and PWInsider by stating, "First of all, if you’re going to cite news sources, pick good ones... Credible." The WWE's Chief Content Officer later apologized for his comments.
"Interesting tidbit: Source states WWE is altering its plans for a ‘press conference’ after this Saturday’s Clash at the Castle PLE. It will now just be a ‘post show,’ with the possibility of media questions still undetermined," WrestleVotes tweeted.
This Saturday's event is headlined by World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre. Considering the show is in the latter's home country, many expect the fan support to be one-sided, making it a hugely anticipated one on the card.
Other prominent matches include Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles in an "I Quit" match, and Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable.
WWE press conferences following PLE is a platform for media to interact with Triple H and wrestlers
Along with the athletes who are featured in the premium live event, the Stamford-based promotion's Chief Content Officer Triple H also joins to answer questions from the media. Sometimes they are forced to discuss topics that perhaps the company would want to be quiet about.
In the last few months, Triple H alone had to deal with questions such as the whereabouts of Brock Lesnar following The Beast Incarnate's alleged involvement in Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon. He was also directly asked about Adam Copeland (formerly Edge) leaving WWE for AEW. The Game always responded professionally to these questions.
Drew McIntyre recently opened up about one of the biggest regrets of his career, which was at the last edition of Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales. He lost the main event showdown to Roman Reigns, then stayed back in the ring to perform a rendition of Don Mclean's "American Pie" and Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger" alongside boxer Tyson Fury.
The Scotsman is looking to rectify this by winning the World Heavyweight Championship this time around, looking at it as a chance to redeem himself after failing to dethrone The Tribal Chief last time.
