WWE Rumor Roundup: Backstage plans for last-minute changes in SummerSlam card, Potential reason why Shane McMahon met AEW's Tony Khan

We are back with another exciting edition of WWE Rumor Roundup, discussing the biggest reports surrounding the company and its top stars. Today's list explores some possible last-minute changes to the SummerSlam card.

Additionally, recent reports have revealed some lesser-known information about Shane McMahon's meeting with AEW President Tony Khan and what led to the same. So, without further ado, let's begin.

#1. WWE reportedly planning changes for SummerSlam match card

The latest report by Fightful Select has claimed that WWE could be making a few last-minute changes to the SummerSlam card. These changes could see the addition of a few new bouts or major alterations made to the already confirmed card for the upcoming premium live event.

As of this writing, seven matches have been confirmed for SummerSlam, of which six will see top champions put their titles on the line. None of the Tag Team Championships will be defended on the show, but that could change if Nick Aldis makes a surprising announcement on SmackDown tonight.

#2. Potential reason why Shane McMahon secretly met with AEW President Tony Khan

Reports linking Shane McMahon to AEW have been doing rounds for months. However, Vince McMahon's son was recently spotted in the same room as Tony Khan after a picture of their meeting went viral on social media. Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer noted that Shane McMahon could've planned to leverage his meeting with Tony Khan for a potential WWE return.

"With Shane, you don't know. I mean, I know Shane McMahon has looked to get back in WWE. I know that people in charge of WWE have no interest in him. Could that change with the idea that he would be willing to AEW? Maybe, maybe not. Would he really be willing to go to AEW? I don't know where he's mind is," Meltzer said.

The leaked picture left several wrestling fans wondering about Shane McMahon's future. Many were surprised by the idea of a McMahon potentially joining their previously family-owned wrestling company's biggest rival in the business.

#3. Major update on the equation between Triple H-run promotion and Shane McMahon

Dave Meltzer shared an interesting update on the current equation between Shane McMahon and the now Triple H-run promotion. He reported that Shane wanted to return to the company, but those in charge are seemingly uninterested in bringing him back on the roster.

"I know that people in charge of WWE have no interest in him [Shane McMahon]," Meltzer said.

Although Shane McMahon was spotted with Tony Khan, there are no concrete updates on his future with AEW. However, fans are curious to see what lies next, especially with SummerSlam around the corner.
