WWE Rumor Roundup: Top SmackDown heel to undergo a surprising change, huge update on next Royal Rumble
Welcome back to our daily edition of WWE Rumour Roundups where we discuss the biggest reports involving top superstars. Today's list looks at backstage plans to change a top heel's name, a major decision involving next year's Royal Rumble, and the victims of The Wyatt Sicks' backstage massacre on RAW earlier this week.
Let's take a look at the top stories that have dominated the WWE headlines today.
#1 Solo Sikoa to potentially debut a new name on SmackDown?
WWE Superstar Solo Sikoa could seemingly undergo a name change on SmackDown in the coming weeks. Latest reports have stated that the promotion filed for a new trademark for the name, 'Ceaser Sikoa.' It appears the acting Tribal Chief could look to adopt a new name and persona as he drives The Bloodline in a more vicious direction.
Sikoa got into an altercation with Cody Rhodes after the American Nightmare successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash at the Castle: Scotland. Tama Tonga and Tana Loa attacked Cody Rhodes, on his orders and he will likely be the next challenger for the American Nightmare's title.
Interestingly, Rhodes had Kevin Owens and Randy Orton to back him up against The Bloodline and they could all cross paths on SmackDown tonight.
#2 Plan to make a major change to Royal Rumble in 2025
WWE could make a potential change to the first of the Big Four premium live events, Royal Rumble, next year. As per the latest reports, the promotion is looking to sign a multi-event deal with Lucas Oil Stadium that could see a potential change in date for the traditionally January-centric PLE.
"I’m told WWE & the Indiana Sports Corp are nearing a multi-event deal, starting with the 2025 Royal Rumble at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. In addition, the deal is likely to include a future WrestleMania & SummerSlam, which would both take place at Lucas Oil Stadium," WrestleVotes reported on X.
The promotion recently made a huge change to SummerSlam, which like WrestleMania, is set to be a two-night event starting from 2026. We may see other shows undergo significant changes soon, or there could be returns of classics.
#3 Who were Wyatt Sicks' victims on WWE RAW?
The Wyatt Sicks made a stunning debut on Monday Night RAW this week. The faction, which is a tribute to the late Bray Wyatt, appeared in the closing moments of the show where Uncle Howdy and others were introduced when the entire Gorilla Position was destroyed. Several people were laid to waste on the floor, including Chad Gable.
Although it was initially reported that top superstars like Gunther, Braun Strowman, and Ludwig Kaiser were also attacked, the latest updates suggest otherwise. According to PWInsider, The Alpha Academy leader was the only prominent superstar while others were extras brought in by the promotion.
Wyatt Sicks' promos were also shown on SmackDown, and the faction could make their first appearance on the blue brand tonight.
