WWE Superstar expected to be out of action for six months owing to injury - Reports
It appears another WWE Superstar is sidelined. More details surrounding it have now been brought to light.
The man in question is Javier Bernal, who announced on June 7 via his Twitch stream that he had suffered a broken foot and would require surgery. This keeps him out of action for at least six months.
Fightful Select has reported that during Friday’s episode of NXT Level Up, Javier would feature in a tag team match vs Chase U, with the injury occurring on a dive to the outside of the ring by Riley Osborne in which Javi’s leg buckled. Apparently, Bernal did not return to his feet without the aid of the referee and his tag team partner Drake Morreaux’s help following the match's conclusion.
In addition to this, the report also states that there is no internal heat directed at Osborne for the injury, as it was only viewed as an accident.
Javier Bernal is a featured star on WWE NXT and Level Up
Javier Bernal debuted in the Stamford-based promotion back in January of 2022 and has since been a common face on NXT and NXT Level Up. According to Fightful Select, backstage personnel look at Javier as a talent who is committed to his character work and is ‘nothing but professional’ in his dealings with other talent.
One source on WWE’s developmental brand noted their belief that Bernal would ‘pick up where he left off’ upon his return down the road.
Since 2022, WWE NXT has seen some major changes. The former black-and-gold brand is now up there with the flagship shows to some degree. NXT recently hosted a successful show inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, with TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace and former AEW star Ethan Page featured in the main event matches.
As for NXT talents, many of them are doing well after getting drafted to the flagship shows. At present, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory are in possession of the WWE Tag Team Championship. Waller had only joined the main roster in 2023, while Theory moved up in 2021.
Theory was part of The Way during his time in NXT, a faction that was led by Johnny Gargano. The latter is now feuding with the tag champs on SmackDown, alongside yet another former NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa. Under Triple H's regime, those who are part of the Tuesday show are more likely to have a bright future on the main roster.
