WWE treating upcoming event like a PLE; John Cena already confirmed - Reports
WWE reportedly is treating an upcoming show as if it were a premium live event. The promotion is coming off a successful Bad Blood 2024 PLE this past Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE is treating the debut of RAW on Netflix on January 6, 2025, as if it were a premium live event. Sapp noted that a longtime employee of the company told him that the show was expected to be one of the biggest episodes of the red brand in history, in terms of creating buzz.
The report also stated that John Cena will be featured on RAW's Netflix debut, and that SmackDown talents were expected to be a part of the show as well. WWE Royal Rumble will be taking place on February 1, 2025, but the promotion was not concerned with the gap in PLEs in January due to the red brand's debut on the global streaming platform.
The report also noted that the company was planning on the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles as the likely location for the blockbuster show.
Bill Apter suggests interesting match for John Cena at WWE WrestleMania 41
Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently suggested that John Cena could potentially face The Rock at WrestleMania 41 next year in Las Vegas.
The Rock returned this past Saturday night at Bad Blood after Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes defeated The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a Tag Team Match.
Speaking on a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter suggested John Cena could battle The Final Boss at WrestleMania next year ahead of his retirement.
"At that point, depending upon how hot everything is, it's gotta be The Rock against Roman Reigns. I think that's the money match. [...] Actually, where I am going with this, I don't know if they wanna see Roman or Cody against The Rock. I think they might wanna see [gestures you can't see me] John Cena against The Rock because that's part of his plans for next year. It is to be high-profile at WrestleMania," he said. [14:18 onwards]

John Cena has not competed in a match since teaming up with Awesome Truth (R-Truth and The Miz) to defeat The Judgment Day's Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh on the April 8, 2024, edition of WWE RAW. It will be fascinating to see what the promotion has planned for the legend during RAW's debut on Netflix next January.
