Rumored returning star to send Randy Orton out of WWE on SmackDown? Exploring potential twist
WWE SmackDown has featured thrilling episodes in recent memory, including drama involving Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Kevin Owens. It could all rise to a greater level if a legendary wrestler returns to assault his former rival.
Kevin Owens turned on Cody Rhodes at Bad Blood, after which Randy Orton tried to fix things between the long-term allies on WWE SmackDown. Unfortunately, The Prizefighter went out of control to brutally assault The Viper. Considering Owens could soon challenge for Rhodes' title, his rivalry with the 14-time world champion may be put on hold until the Road to WrestleMania 41. The company could bring a former rival to rekindle a feud.
According to PWInsider, Shinsuke Nakamura is expected to be on the blue brand this week. While the report doesn't confirm if he will appear onscreen, if that's the plan, he could return to unleash an all-out assault on Randy Orton.
Over the past two years, Nakamura had amazing rivalries against the likes of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Continuing that legacy, he could potentially attack Orton to send him away from WWE for a considerable period. The Viper could get a much-deserved short hiatus before he returns to television to go after the Japanese star. It will gather nuclear heat for Nakamura and keep the babyface distracted before he finally feuds with Kevin Owens.
While this scenario will certainly entertain fans, it is just speculation for now.
What else could Randy Orton do on WWE SmackDown?
Considering that the company doesn't put him against Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton could continue his ongoing rivalry against Kevin Owens on this week's WWE SmackDown episode.
As Owens is suspended, The Apex Predator could cut a solo promo targeting his friend-turned-rival. He could also get his Crown Jewel match confirmed with Triple H, leading to a mammoth battle between the two in Saudi Arabia on November 2. If Kevin Owens shows up on WWE SmackDown, fans could also witness another heated confrontation between the former allies.
Lots of questions, but answers will only be given when the blue brand emanates from Brooklyn, New York on Friday.
