WWE Rumors: WWE planning to put the WWE World Championship on The Undertaker
After the Undertaker’s return on SmackDown this past Tuesday, rumours have been flying about the future of ‘the Deadman’. The Undertaker made a chilling promo on SmackDown warning Team SmackDown to perform or perish. He also mentioned that if SmackDown were to lose the traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series matchup, then the person responsible would have reason to fear ‘The Deadman’.
With Survivor Series just round the corner, many in the WWE Universe are speculating that Team SmackDown may indeed bow down to the mighty RAW roster. There is a reason to believe that the man responsible for the loss of Team SmackDown may be none other than the current WWE Champion AJ Styles. This would, in turn lead to a program with the Undertaker at Royal Rumble for the WWE World title.
According to Ringside News, WWE is potentially going to put the WWE World Title on The Undertaker. It is here that the question arises whether Taker will pin Styles for the three count and take the title. That would mean that Taker would be holding the most prestigious title on SmackDown Live going into WrestleMania. However, all these plans depend on the Undertaker’s ability to be on the road and in the ring as WWE World Champion. Given that his best days are now behind him, Taker would like to finish his career at the grandest stage of them all and walk into the sunset.
There are plans in motion for Cena to equal Ric Flair’s record to 16 World Championships and WrestleMania 33 is rumoured to be the place where Cena attempts to achieve this feat. Cena vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania is a match that Vince wanted to put on at this year’s event but was unable to, due to Cena’s shoulder injury. As a result, Shane was brought into the mix and the match was set. Although Shane did a great job of working with the Undertaker the story felt half-baked and the rivalry seemed pointless.
It is almost a certainty that WrestleMania 33 would be the last for Taker as he decides to hang up his boots and focus on other aspects of his life. There are even rumours of a stipulation where the Undertaker could put his career on the line. And it seems like John Cena is the man who will be giving the Phenom a sendoff.
If he does indeed retire after WrestleMania 33, he will surely be inducted into the Hall of Fame the following year. That being said, the WWE fans would miss the Phenom and WrestleMania without the Undertaker would not just be the same.
