WWE Rumours: Possible plans for Shane McMahon and Goldberg return

The moment which raised many eyebrows

Many eyebrows were raised after the end of Summerslam when Brock Lesnar floored Shane McMahon with an F-5. Several rumours suggested that WWE had planned Brock Lesnar vs Shane McMahon for the 2017 Royal Rumble, but this doesn't seem to be the case anymore with Goldberg now being in the picture.

According to Cagesideseats.com, the initial part of the plan includes Shane signing Goldberg as a proxy which will lead to Lesnar vs. Goldberg at the Royal Rumble. A win there for Lesnar could lead to Shane dealing with it personally by challenging Lesnar to a match at Wrestlemania

The feud was fueled after Summerslam with Shane McMahon tweeting this:

They further teased the match with this:

After their let-down at Wrestlemania 20, Lesnar, Goldberg and WWE would love to get things right this time and erase those memories. With the Royal Rumble taking place at the Alamodome next year, This match is sure to attract headlines and have fans line up for one of the most anticipated matches in recent times.

The Goldberg return tease started when he was included in WWE 2k17 as a playable character and since then there have been rumours speculating his return in every possible scenario. With the return now being all but confirmed, this might be the perfect scenario for Goldberg to make his mark.

Lesnar, who hasn’t been on television since Summerslam is expected to be back on television before Royal Rumble for the build of this feud. The Goldberg return has been pretty much sealed with Dave Meltzer stating it as well.

We hope this time that WWE doesn't mess it up like the Undertaker – Shane McMahon storyline and gives us a feud to remember. With a much-anticipated return and big names in this storyline, there is a lot of potential for the feud to be a major success for the WWE.
