Ruthless dominance or a future warzone? 4 signs that the Bloodline will win the WWE Tag Team titles on SmackDown
The Bloodline's story will likely continue to dominate WWE for the rest of 2024. WWE recently announced that Survivor Series: WarGames will emanate from Vancouver, Canada this November. While sites of future PLEs are always announced in advance of the show, this announcement came at an interesting time.
Not only is SummerSlam this weekend, but Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga are challenging for the WWE Tag Team titles on the final episode of SmackDown before the event. The group figures to be heavily involved in Cleveland despite only Solo Sikoa having a match on the card.
The Bloodline seems like a good bet to once again battle another squad at WarGames. Winning the tag team titles could be one step toward building the opposing team. The next four signs point to Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga winning the belts on SmackDown.
#4. Winning could extend the feud with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton
Kevin Owens has battled the Bloodline in all of its forms. He was one of the first challengers to Roman Reigns after he won the Universal Championship in 2020.
Over time, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes joined the fight. The battle is ongoing, and winning the titles on SmackDown would be one way to keep the feud fresh. Neither duo has titles, but the stakes are instantly raised when a championship is on the line.
If Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga win the WWE Tag Team Championship, Owens and Orton would be obvious challengers due to opposing the Bloodline for much of 2024.
#3. A title change could eventually set things up for WarGames
As mentioned above, WarGames will again take place in November. The Bloodline did not compete in last year's match as Rhodes, Owens, and Orton were among the stars to battle the Judgment Day.
With how the new version of the Samoan faction has been presented on SmackDown, it feels like they'll be one of the teams to compete in Vancouver. Having the tag team titles as a part of the ongoing feud would help build the team to oppose Solo and his revamped stable.
DIY could lose but continue to pursue the belts, possibly reclaiming them thanks to help from Orton and Owens at Bad Blood or another PLE. That would then provide four spots for the opposing team, with Cody Rhodes or another star potentially rounding out the group. DIY has experience in WarGames, after all.
#2. The new faction has been presented as dominant and ruthless
The biggest difference between the Bloodline under Roman Reigns and the group under Sikoa is chaos. The first version ran roughshod over WWE but only at the behest of The Tribal Chief. The moves were calculated and backed up by the wisdom of The Wiseman.
Sikoa's allies have scared even Paul Heyman due to their ferocity. Kicking Jimmy Uso out was the first sign of their ruthless nature. Attacking an advocate like Heyman was a shocking moment that even Reigns would have never approved.
Jacob Fatu has been presented as a one-man wrecking crew, and his charisma is off the charts. He's a physical anomaly that gives the new faction a star the previous group lacked. With how the group has dominated SmackDown both literally and figuratively, it would make complete sense for a quick title swap.
#1. Solo Sikoa wants to bring titles back to the Bloodline
The main reason why Sikoa took over the Bloodline was that Roman Reigns lost the Undisputed WWE title to Cody Rhodes.
He blamed his cousin for losing "their" title and has been on a rampage to bring it back to the family. Sikoa also mentioned doing the same with the tag team titles in a recent SmackDown promo.
Gold makes a faction even more formidable, as evidenced by the Four Horsemen, Evolution, Damage CTRL, the original Bloodline, and the Judgment Day. Holding titles will also prove that Sikoa and his allies truly run SmackDown.
