Samoa Joe debuts on NXT Takeover, addresses the crowd after NXT goes off air
Former TNA superstar and one of pro wrestling’s biggest names, Samoa Joe, finally made his debut in the WWE at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable event last night, confirming that all the speculations earlier about him signing a deal over the past few weeks were actually true.
Joe made his debut during after the main event featuring Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens. As Owens was beating on Sami who was not defending himself, Joe’s music hit and he made his way to the ring to confront Owens.
Owens and Joe have a staredown
The crowd chanted “Joe is gonna kill you” before him and Owens had a stare down. However, Owens decided to leave the squared circle and went to the back. As Joe was soaking in the reaction from the crowd, Owens made his way back to ringside and said, “not tonight”.
After NXT went off the air, Joe who didn’t utter a single word after his surprising debut, grabbed the microphone and addressed the crowd in attendance.
Issues a warning to the NXT roster
"So this is NXT?," Joe said, as the crowd chanted "NXT". "I've always made it a point to compete in the hottest promotions in the world, and everywhere I looked, and everyone I asked told me one thing: 'Joe, if you want to do what you want to do, if you want to be with the very best, and the most hungry and vicious and violent and hungry and excellent pro wrestlers in the world, then you come to NXT.'"
Joe was also clearly impressed with the talent, which he explained in his post-show comments.
"If tonight is any indication of the competition I can expect, rest assured, Joe is happy, and Joe is here. Consider this your warning. I am Samoa Joe, I am pro wrestling, and I am here in NXT," Joe said.
NXT will be holding television tapings this week. No word yet on if Samoa Joe will be participating in the tapings.
