Seth Rollins gives honest reason for fan backlash on WWE Backstage
Seth Rollins gave a reason as to why the WWE Universe disliked him, saying they do it because "it's the cool thing to do."
During his appearance on this week's episode of WWE Backstage, Rollins was asked about the backlash he's been receiving this year. The former Universal Champion said he didn't understand why fans turned on him since he was loved by them in 2018.
"You look at where I was sitting a year ago at this time. I was the guy. I was being positioned to go to the next level. And in my opinion, and to the fans opinion at the time, I thought I was very successful at that. I got all the way to WrestleMania, to Brock Lesnar, to taking that title, and then we shifted gears and I don't really have an explanation for why."
Though initially claiming not to have an explanation, Rollins would agree with Renee Young when she suggested that fans disliked him because it was the popular thing to do.
"It's the cool thing to to do to hate me. That's what it is. The cool thing to do is to hate the guy that's on top."
Rollins compared himself to Roman Reigns, John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart dealing with backlash and said fans hating the top guy isn't new.
