Seth Rollins made his main roster debut alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns back at Survivor Series in 2012, but before he became one of the most popular superstars on the main roster, he was the inaugural NXT Champion.

Triple H knew that he was putting the NXT Championship in the best possible hands because he was already aware of the pedigree that Rollins had from his time on the Independent Circuit where he was known as Tyler Black; Rollins already faced a number of WWE's biggest stars before he ever joined the company and even a few stars that WWE would have liked to have signed a few years ago.

Rollins steals the show on a regular basis, but it is well-known that WWE often water down superstars move-sets when they are promoted to the main roster, which means that some of the matches Rollins had on the Independent circuit before he was contracted to WWE are still considered to be some of the best of his career.

#5. Tyler Black vs. Kevin Steen

Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens have already collided a number of times in WWE, but back in 2006 both men stepped into the ring for IWA Mid-south and had a match that proved that they were destined to be huge stars in the future.

Rollins was still performing under the ring name of Tyler Black back then, whilst Owens was known as Steen. Neither men missed a beat throughout the match which sawees Black kick out of Steen's signature pop-up powerbomb followed by pump-handle neckbreaker.

In the end, it was Steen going for the package piledriver that cost him the match as Black was able to reverse it into a jackknife pin for a quick three count.
