Seth Rollins still struggling with career-changing injury? Dream match delay? - 4 reasons The Visionary may not wrestle at WWE SummerSlam
Surprisingly, Seth Rollins returned to WWE just weeks after knee surgery following an injury that he reportedly suffered ahead of WrestleMania. Rollins has already proved that he is medically cleared since he wrestled at Money in the Bank earlier this month when he came up short against Damian Priest due to Drew McIntyre cashing in his MITB contract.
Rumors now suggest that Rollins will be the special guest referee for the match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam next month. It seems that this could be a controversial decision that would deny Rollins the revenge he requires because McIntyre cost him the World Championship.
The following list looks at just four reasons why Seth Rollins may not wrestle at WWE SummerSlam.
#4. Rollins could set up an angle from a special guest referee position
Seth Rollins will reportedly put on the stripes and be the special guest referee for the match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk at SummerSlam, which could leave him in an interesting position. Seth Rollins dislikes CM Punk but he also blames Drew McIntyre for cashing in his contract and costing him the World Championship.
He has no love for either man and he could call the match down the middle or he could make the decision to help one of the men earn bragging rights over the other.
#3. Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk delayed until Bash in Berlin
The most obvious match here would be a Triple Threat between all three men since the story would make sense. Fans have been waiting for McIntyre vs. CM Punk since January and as soon as Punk is cleared it seems that Triple H wants to pull the trigger.
If Rollins can make a difference as the referee, then that could be the reason why a Triple Threat match happens at Bash in Berlin at the end of August instead.
#2. Seth Rollins vs CM Punk at WrestleMania 41 is the end game
CM Punk may finally be cleared for action after spending the better part of 2024 on the sidelines. Despite being injured, Punk has still been a major part of storylines but it's likely that the company will want to circle back to the match that was supposed to happen at WrestleMania 40 between Rollins and Punk.
That means that there needs to be a tease at SummerSlam before another few months of a build toward the match which will finally begin picking up speed for The Royal Rumble.
#1. Seth Rollins isn't 100 percent
One of the biggest reasons for the decision could be that Rollins isn't one hundred percent following his knee injury. He's only wrestled one match since making his return and has since been part of angles that have allowed him to cut promos and deliver moves but not actually take them.
A Triple Threat is a lot more active and since he only had knee surgery a few weeks ago, this could be WWE giving him a rest so he's ready to perform at Bash in Berlin.
