WWE Money in the Bank 2019, Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles: Dream Match or Pipe Dream
On May 19, 2019, two of the biggest Superstars in WWEÂ right now will go head-to-head for the very first time ever. This match doesn't need any major build-up to it because just the thought of seeing these two awe-inspiring Superstars compete in the squared circle is surreal and fans have been clamoring to see these two face each other for a long time. Many considered this match to be a 'dream match.'
And now it finally looks like it will be a dream match no longer because WWE holds the magic wand to all the dream matches we want come true and they have used it to book this match at Money in the Bank between AJ Styles and Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship.
Now, before we get a little too hyped up for this, let's not put too much hope in this match. While we are expecting it to be a classic, possibly the best match of 2019, there is a chance that it will be another disappointment.
Money In The Bank is no WrestleMania and WWE doesn't have to go all-out for this. But since it's happening anyway, then we shouldn't expect anything less than a great match.
I personally wanted to see a match between AJ Styles and Seth Rollins take place next year in the main event of WrestleMania 36 where Rollins should've defended his Universal Championship against Styles.
These two men definitely deserve to main-event WrestleMania together and if WWE puts in all the work and actually saw how huge it would be, then the match wouldn't have disappointed.
With that being said; Is this bout actually a dream match or just another pipe dream?
In 2018, Shinsuke Nakamura won the Royal Rumble match to earn the right to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34.
Many fans were looking forward to this match, and the stakes couldn't get any higher. Not only were they facing each other in front of over 70 000 people at WrestleMania, the biggest event in pro-wrestling, but for the richest prize in sports entertainment—the WWE Championship, was also on the line.
Fans were drooling for this match, especially after the two Superstars did not disappoint in their maiden match in Japan.
Their match at 'Mania was still billed as a 'dream match' by WWE and a lot was at stake. These two did put on a decent match, but it did not live up to expectations. It was a dream match that did not deliver, but Styles and Nakamura kept feuding after the Showcase of The Immortals.
Styles has faced many big names since he arrived in WWE; names such as Roman Reigns, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan.
The Phenomenal One has everything to gain here. Not only could he defeat The Architect, but he could also win the Universal Championship and be on top of Monday Night Raw. So now, we get to the burning question.
AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins - Dream match or Pipe dream?
These two might end up putting on the worst match in the history of WWE, but this is no doubt a dream match.
It doesn't matter what the end results will be for this bout to be considered a dream match.
I, honestly, don't buy the fact that this match will end in a clean victory at MITB for either competitor.
None of them can afford to lose and I don't see them losing cleanly either. I see this match ending in a disqualification with either the winner of the Money in the Bank contract making an attempt to cash in his contract or maybe Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will interfere on behalf of AJ Styles.
We could then see them have a proper match at SummerSlam or at WrestleMania next year, who knows?
This is Money in the Bank, and nothing is predictable. New champions can be crowned last-minute and anything can happen whether we expect to see it or not. Come Sunday, the WWE Universe could be in for a treat. It looks like Christmas may have come early for us!
