Setting the stage for a massive debut, breaking up the treehouse? - Last-minute predictions for NXT No Mercy

NXT's No Mercy hits the waves in Denver, Colorado this weekend. The show will feature a rematch for the NXT Tag Team titles as well as TNA star, Joe Hendry, challenging Ethan Page for the NXT Championship.

Roxanne Perez will defend her title against another green opponent, Jaida Parker. Will the brash Parker upset the extremely confident Prodigy or will Perez find a way to overcome her larger opponent?

Zach Wentz, another TNA star, looks for revenge on his former friend, Wes Lee in what could be the match of the weekend.

As 2024 heads into its final quarter, much of what goes down at the PLE will set things up for the rest of the year. Here are last-minute predictions for NXT No Mercy in Denver.

#6. Axiom and Nathan Frazer get a rematch against Chase University

Fraxiom is one of the best tag teams in the Stamford-based promotion. Despite being on WWE's 'third' brand, they routinely put on match-of-the-night performances whenever they defended their titles.

That was put to the test by Chase University. Andre Chase is in his second reign with the titles. Putting the belts back on Frazer and Axiom so soon after losing them would seem like bookers can't make up their minds.

Since they could be moving on to the main roster, the titles should stay safe within the confines of Chase University at No Mercy.

Prediction - Andre Chase and Ridge Holland beat Nathan Frazer and Axiom.

#5. Kelani Jordan looks to overcome Wendy Choo's mind games

Jordan is the first Women's North American Champion. She's survived matches with Sol Ruca and Tatum Paxley as the title holder. Wendy Choo returned to action as Kelani was starting to establish her title reign.

Bookers are fully behind the inaugural champion and Choo is a trusted veteran of the industry. She's one of the few performers who can play multiple characters as evidenced by her time as Mei Ying in Tian Sha.

The North American Championship will likely be used to represent the up-and-coming stars in NXT before pushing them towards the brand's top prize.

Prediction - Kelani Jordan survives a nightmare of Wendy Choo's design.

#4. The Rascalz implode at No Mercy

Former friends and brothers collide in a heated grudge match when Zach Wentz faces Wes Lee at No Mercy. The two enjoyed success as MSK but outside forces broke the team up a few years ago.

After the team disbanded, Lee rose to become one of NXT's top stars. Wentz returned to TNA, and later back to the white and gold brand due to the working relationship between the two promotions. Lee's heel turn was unexpected, making it all the more impactful.

Wentz just won the X Division Championship at Emergence. The two former friends should fight at a TNA event with Wentz getting a big win. Since Lee thinks he's far superior to his former friend, he'll likely pull out all of the stops at No Mercy to prove his point.

Prediction - Wes Lee cheats to beat Zach Wentz at No Mercy

#3. Can Oba Femi survive The Don of NXT?

Oba Femi has been presented as dominant as Bron Breakker was during his time in NXT. He's beaten several game opponents, including Josh Briggs, Dijak, Lee, and Joe Coffey.

Tony D'Angelo is the last of the original four NXT 2.0 stars that were pushed as the future. However, he hasn't won a singles title outside of the Heritage Cup. This could be the fight where Femi meets his match in the ring.

It still feels like Femi will only lose the title in a triple threat or if he relinquishes it to pursue the NXT Championship. The Don may have to wait for a chance to win the title after Femi drops it.

Prediction - Oba Femi asserts his dominance over Tony D'Angelo

#2. Roxanne Perez defends her title against Jaida Parker

This should be one of the most slam-dunk matches to predict at No Mercy. Parker has been pushed since her debut, despite being in pro wrestling for less than two years. She has the attitude to sell her character but her in-ring work still needs a lot of polishing.

Perez has been the anchor of the division since her debut. Her time out of the spotlight helped establish names like Lyra Valkyria, Tiffany Stratton, Jordan, and others.

The simple fact is that The Prodigy is too good and shouldn't be losing the title to anyone who doesn't have a lengthy history in the business. That person, however, may confront Perez after she survives the bigger Parker.

Prediction - Roxanne Perez beats Jaida Parker but meets her biggest challenge after the win.

#1. Do NXT officials truly believe in Joe Hendry?

Unlike the NXT Women's Championship match, this showdown could conceivably go either way. In the past, it would have been unthinkable that the Stamford-based company would crown a non-WWE star. Joe Hendry's popularity, however, is too hard to ignore.

He's likely heading to WWE once he's done with TNA, but he's been one of the most-used stars in the talent exchange. Ethan Page has been a cowardly champion but could use a signature win.

Hendry will still be over if he loses, but the outcome will be determined by Trick Williams as the special guest referee. Due to his own popularity, he won't be turning on Hendry. Trick will have to call it down the middle. He'll get his rematch regardless of who wins at No Mercy.

Prediction - Ethan Page defeats Joe Hendry
