Shattering friendships; Blockbuster challenges? 4 consequences Cody Rhodes could face for teaming up with Roman Reigns
Cody Rhodes' uneasy alliance with Roman Reigns has impacted several stars in WWE. Reigns lost the title to Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 after months of clashes between the two sides.
As Solo Sikoa usurped the faction, he challenged Reigns to reclaim the title of Tribal Chief. Sikoa has also targeted The American Nightmare and the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The two former rivals must be on the same page heading into Bad Blood, but things outside the temporary alliance could be affected. Cody Rhodes could face the next four consequences after agreeing to an uneasy alliance with Roman Reigns.
#4. A future feud with a trusted ally
Seth Rollins bravely threw his name into Cody Rhodes' feud with The Bloodline heading into WrestleMania 40. He wanted to end Roman's stranglehold on the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The desire to continually extend Reigns' run with the title necessitated the creation of the World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins won it and carried it during the feud.
Since Rhodes agreed to ally with one of his most heated rivals, it could come back to bite him in the form of The Architect. Rollins has always been outspoken about his dislike for Reigns and the Bloodline. It could lead to a heel turn and another match in their storied history.
#3. Cody Rhodes potentially loses his title to The Rock
WWE already teased a future meeting between Rhodes and The Rock. The Great One appeared on the Road to WrestleMania when Roman Reigns took the week off. He brutalized The American Nightmare but passively complimented him in the end.
While The Brahma Bull carries the People's Championship, it's not a real title recognized by WWE. He wants one more shot at winning a major title and could strong-arm his way to a championship match with his position on TKO's board of directors.
If Rhodes' run stalls or lacks credible opponents, WWE could opt for a shock swap with The Rock winning the title.
#2. Lose support from recent allies
Seth Rollins isn't the only former ally of Cody who's been collateral damage in the Bloodline saga. Throughout the second half of 2024, both Kevin Owens and Randy Orton fought by The American Nightmare's side.
They've battled the new-look faction as a duo and a trio, but Solo Sikoa keeps adding members. The Bloodline tormented The Prizefighter multiple times over the last four years.
Owens' doubt surrounding Rhodes' decision to ally with Reigns was sown on last week's SmackDown. Byron Saxton tried to elicit a reaction to the news from The Prizefighter, but he decided to address it in the ring.
Orton has also fought the faction for a few years and is Rhodes' mentor. The newfound alliance cannot be sitting well with The Viper and Owens. It may cost Cody Rhodes their loyalty.
#1. A trilogy with Roman Reigns
When a champion loses a title, they almost always demand a rematch. It's part of pro wrestling and always will be. The Head of the Table immediately disappeared after WrestleMania 40, and many expected him to demand a rematch as soon as he returned.
However, instead of articulating that desire, he targeted his cousin for breaking up and remaking the Bloodline. With Reigns and Rhodes now aligned to battle Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, Reigns may expect an opportunity if they defeat the brutal duo.
It would provide an event with another massive showdown but with the dynamic of Reigns as the challenger. The partnership is out of necessity but will ultimately cost Cody Rhodes when The Original Tribal Chief demands a chance to regain his title.
