Shock title change, veteran stars to make company debut? - 4 surprises that could happen on Night 2 of WWE NXT Great American Bash
The first night of a two-episode WWE NXT Great American Bash special aired on the SyFy network on Tuesday. The show was quite stacked too, as it featured several championship matches that had fans hooked.
For example, the opening contest saw RAW's Unholy Union defend their Women's Tag Team Titles against Meta-Four. The main event of the night was another title bout, with Roxanne Perez putting her NXT Women's Championship on the line against Thea Hail.
As noted, the fun will continue. Next week will be Night 2 of the NXT Great American Bash 2024 special. Several big matches have been confirmed, which include Joe Hendry in action, MSK vs. Nathan Frazer and Axiom, and Ethan Page vs. Oro Mensah.
While NXT last night was light on surprises, there could be some that take place during the final night of the event. This article will take a look at a handful of possible shockers that could happen on Tuesday's big show.
Below are four surprises that could take place on Night 2 of WWE NXT Great American Bash.
#4. Giulia could appear and challenge Roxanne Perez at No Mercy
Giulia is an incredibly talented performer who is currently competing in Marigold. While she is part of the new Joshi wrestling promotion, she rose to fame as part of the Stardom roster where she held numerous titles.
The Japanese sensation has been rumored to be joining NXT ever since her appearance at the NXT Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event during WWE WrestleMania weekend. An injury, however, seemingly slowed things down considerably.
Now that the athletic performer is back in the ring, her move to the United States is coming up soon. We know that her last match in Marigold is in August. As a result, she could appear on Night 2 of the Great American Bash to set up a future match as part of the NXT roster.
#3. Oro Mensah could shockingly win the NXT Championship
Ethan Page is the reigning WWE NXT Champion. That is still bizarre to say, as it wasn't too long ago that All Ego was in All Elite Wrestling. Still, after what just amounted to weeks on NXT, Page defeated Trick Williams in a Fatal 4-Way Match to win the belt.
Oro Mensah is a member of The Meta-Four. He started his career in WWE on the NXT UK roster but later moved to the United States. Now, he's in a heated feud with Page and will challenge for the gold next week.
Just as Ego winning the title was an absolute shocker, another one could happen on SyFy next Tuesday. Main Man Oro could shockingly defeat Ego and win his first major title on NXT. From there, he could face a series of challengers in what will likely be first-time-ever matches.
#2. Sheamus could return to cost Pete Dunne a win
With such a stacked card for WWE NXT Great American Bash Night 2, it would be easy to overlook some bouts. One that should not be overlooked, however, is the upcoming match between former NXT Champion Trick Williams and RAW's Pete Dunne.
Ever since Tyler Bate got injured, Dunne has turned into his old, bitter, and grumpy self. This has been a problem for Sheamus, who Pete has attacked on more than one occasion on RAW. In fact, he even cost Sheamus a win over Bronson Reed. It has also been a problem for Trick. Next week, however, it may be Sheamus and Trick who get the last laugh.
There is a chance that the former WWE Champion will appear on NXT and cost Pete the win out of revenge. If he does, it would help Trick potentially earn a new title match and it would add more fuel to the fire for The Bruiserweight and The Celtic Warrior to clash on the red brand.
#1. The Motor City Machine Guns could make their WWE debut
The Motor City Machine Guns is a popular tag team that has been wrestling for quite some time. The duo, comprised of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, have had success everywhere they've gone but TNA Wrestling was their primary home for many years.
Ever since leaving TNA earlier this year, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were rumored to be AEW-bound. Recently, however, news came out that while both Tony Khan's promotion and WWE had interest in the duo, it was the industry leader that was more likely to land the duo.
If they are indeed joining WWE, they could first appear on the NXT brand. If they do, showing up following the surely epic clash between MSK and Fraxiom could be the move. This would immediately set up a future rivalry that may conclude at NXT's next premium live event.
