SK's take on Bobby Lashley leaving Impact Wrestling
During the most recent Impact Wrestling tapings, Bobby Lashley bid the crowd farewell and took what appeared to be his final bow for the Nashville-based promotion, joining the likes of Chris Adonis, EC3 and Rockstar Spud on the outgoing list.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 40-year-old could be on his way to WWE, where he was once handpicked by Vince McMahon to be a top star. WWE is always on the lookout for surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble match, so the timing is certainly in Lashley's favour.
However, the ATT product likely still harbours ambitions of competing in MMA, and it is unlikely that he will have the luxury of fighting for Bellator while under contract to WWE.
This issue is not the only potential stumbling block in this equation as Lashley left the world's larger professional wrestling promotion, in 2008, under less than favourable circumstances. He reportedly had a huge bust-up with Michael Hayes, the current head of road agents/producers.
With that being said, time heals all wounds in the professional wrestling industry, and even Superstars such as Bret Hart and the Ultimate Warrior found their way back to WWE. After all, being associated with a billion dollar company simply has too many benefits to turn down.
In other words, it would be foolhardy to dismiss the thought of Lashley returning to WWE without a second thought. "Never say never," as Vince McMahon often likes to say.
