SK's take on news that WWE officials have reached out to Goldberg for huge return
Goldberg is one of the most legendary figures in WWE history thanks to his much-lauded undefeated streak. Goldberg's undefeated streak spanned between 1997 and 1998 and was the longest undefeated streak in professional wrestling until Asuka surpassed it earlier this year.
Last October he made his long-awaited WWE return, shockingly beating Brock Lesnar in somewhat of a squash match and winning the WWE Universal Title from Kevin Owens, before losing it to 'The Beast Incarnate' in a rematch. Since then, Goldberg has been off television with his return clearly only being a temporary thing.
The WWE is still clearly very high on Goldberg, as he was the subject of a documentary programme on the network in which the WWE presented a behind the scenes look at the popular wrestler's return to the company.
With that in mind, it's clear that WWE has left the door open for a return, and now new reports suggest that the company may have a specific date in mind for getting Bill Goldberg back inside a WWE ring following his seven-month absence after his Wrestlemania 33 defeat.
The Inquisitr confirmed that there are reports of WWE being in talks with Goldberg to bring him back for their huge RAW 25th anniversary show. This would make sense as WWE has gone all out for this show with several other big legendary names in WWE history slated to appear such as The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash.
Other names being touted as appearing, but not yet confirmed by WWE are Mick Foley, Ric Flair and Bret Hart, with Goldberg also joining this list of unconfirmed possibilities. However, if the reports of WWE's negotiations with him are true, it's extremely likely we'll be seeing him at the show.
However, the Inquisitr goes on to report that an appearance at RAW's 25th anniversary might not be all that's on the cards for Goldberg as there are rumours of a Hall of Fame Induction to take place on Wrestlemania 34 weekend.
For the latter [Goldberg], WWE officials also discussed something else for him at WrestleMania 34 that has been rumored for several months now.
Now, it’s being said that WWE officials have also discussed the possibility with Goldberg for him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 34 weekend in New Orleans. Other big names have been rumoured for the ceremony, but Goldberg appears to be one of the names locked in for the honour next year.
At the moment all of this is just speculation, even though I think it's safe to say that Goldberg will be back on WWE television given the success of his recent return and feud with Brock Lesnar. If he does return on the RAW 25th anniversary show, or at Wrestlemania 34 as part of the Hall of Fame inductees, it's unlikely he'll be doing so in a wrestling capacity, but in the world of sports-entertainment, you really can never know.
