SK's Take on WWE unveiling Women's Tag Team Championships

Are Women's Tag Team Championships set to be added to SmackDown Live?
Are Women's Tag Team Championships set to be added to SmackDown Live?

Paige was unveiled as the new SmackDown General Manager on the SmackDown after WrestleMania and it seems that the former Divas Champion could be in the perfect position to push forward the Women's Revolution from a position of power.

Paige's former Absolution teammates were brought over to SmackDown Live as part of the Superstar Shakeup.

This means that they are now part of a division that includes The IIconic's, Becky Lynch and Charlotte as well as Asuka, Tamina, Lana, Naomi and the current Women's Champion Carmella.

There are too many women in the division for SmackDown to be able to have all the women in one storyline, so now would be the perfect time for Women's Tag Team Championships to be unveiled.

Paige will obviously still favour Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose and this bond will allow the two women to fight the likes of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay in a number of matches to crown the first ever Champions.

There are too many women on the roster now to be able to have them all fighting for one title and now that the brand split on pay-per-view is over, there could be an option to defend the title against teams from Raw as well so that the women would be getting more time on TV.

The Women's Revolution has reached the point where they are now stalling since the women have achieved a lot over the past year, but none of these achievements have impacted on the day-to-day running of the show.

New Championships would definitely allow the women to be involved in more storylines and to be used more on pay-per-views and on Raw and SmackDown.

WWE themselves have been teasing the arrival of Tag Team Championships and pushing forward teams like The Riott Squad, Absolution and The IIconics could be a hint that these women could finally be given more than one Championship to fight for.

The Women's Tag Team Championships haven't been seen in WWE since 1989 and it's obvious that the division has evolved since then and deserves a second set of Championships.

Paige now in the perfect position to ensure that she is once again controlling the Women's Revolution? WWE seem to think so.
